“We Can Choose to Move Closer To God’s Intent”
Small steps taken each day move us closer to living out God’s intentions for our lives. This is the message Dave Jewett, founder of Your One Degree Ministries, gave our couples coach training class on April 23, 2018. We were celebrating the completion of training with a final meal together and commissioning by Rev. Guy Ames. It was a very special evening in this young ministry’s life.
Dave sent a special extended voice message to encourage the new coaches. He urged us to look for ways to implement our unique God-given design each day, even in the small things. He shared one of his own experiences with us that demonstrated how powerfully God can influence our lives and the lives of those around us. The key is to be open and willing to follow His nudges in the moment.
Dave also reminded us that our primary purpose in life is to abide in Christ. That always trumps any specific purpose we discover along the way. If we ignore the focus on Christ, our specific purposes become all about us, and we miss the whole point. No doubt there is great joy, reward, and impact as we live out our unique designs. But, the greater joy is understanding how God is using us for Kingdom work.
Thanks, Dave, for your important reminders to everyone. And thanks to all who have encouraged and supported a ministry in its infancy. With the commitment of our newly trained couple coaches, Asbury UMC will conduct four new home groups this fall semester. We will touch the lives of up to 20 new couples. Forty men and women will begin “Unleashing purpose… together!” LifeQuest Couples Coaching is now spreading its wings to fly. Think of the lives that will be touched, the families that will be impacted, and the service yet to be done for the Kingdom of God.
